How do you do it?

I often wonder if others blog the same way I do.

Time is what works against me when I'm trying to visit other blogs and it doesn't exist when I'm trying to write a post.

To combat the time issue, I use the Open in Tabs option under Bookmarks. I have multiple folders of my favorite blogs and I slam them one of those folders open each morning after I've poured my coffee. Then it's a crapshoot. Sometimes Bumper likes to play quietly and I can read three maybe five posts from some of my favs and even leave comments. God forbid if I get headed down a tangent and start off in a dizzy of links. When that happens, I'm usually screwed because time has been spent in places away from my beloved blogs. Sigh.

Unfortunately that happens often.

If I can leave five comments in one day, I feel very accomplished. Usually I get three out of my system but I've thought of a dozen while not able to type.

I can't type sometimes because Bumper likes to nap on my lap and it's not often I can balance a sleepy nursing baby and peck something out on the keyboard. I try but I keep it short and often get frustrated. Sigh.

At least I can read posts. I have a great scroll ball and I've got enough bookmarks to make it through a nap.

Often I leave open the posts I want to comment on all day. I must look really weird on some site meters.

"sheezzz... who is that in Ontario that stays for eight hours on my blog? Weirdo".

I hate it when husband comes home and doesn't realize that I've kept these sites open for a reason and switches IDs so I loose all my tabs. Sigh.

I love visiting but I'm sad when I can't find time to comment everywhere. Don't get me started on writing posts. I try to keep a good diary of things I've thought of, but since the swiss-cheesing of my brain that apparently happened during childbirth, I don't retain as much as I used to and if I don't write it down right away it's usually gone in seconds.

Anyone else out there like that?

I'm pretty scattered. Sometimes my comments don't make any sense!

We all know it's hard. No need to comment. We appreciate you reading...

I used to have a nap-in-arms baby... 2x 1 hour a day of me sitting there doing nothing (too bad I didn't have blogging then).

Have you tried using Bloglines? I prefer the old-fashioned way, but I'm working such ridiculous hours right now that I have to save time where I can. Bloglines keeps track of unread posts on the blogs you subscribe to. You just click on the name in bold, and the unread posts show up in the window (but if you want to comment you have to click out of Bloglines and visit the actual page). Some blogs I catch up on once a week, others I visit every time I see a new post. Not sure how much time it really saves, but it does eliminate all the "just-checking" visits.

I go down my list of bookmarks. Sometimes I can comment, other times I am lucky if I can skim!
As for posting, Claire is pretty good at letting me, but I have been doing it more when patrick is home.

i totally lose track of where i'm going; where i've been; what i was thinking; what i was saying...
unfortunately that means that when i do find time to blog, i am either late-night brain dead or rushing while slacking off at work (most often the latter).
but, oh, the lap naps... they will be one of my favourite memories of bumblebee's infanthood when i am old(er) and gray(er).

This is EXACTLY how it works for me. And it can be exciting, draining and frustrating all at once. But it's how I do it, and I haven't been able to change it.

ha, I think I have ten things in draft form at any one time. INcluding at least one meme that made the rounds ages ago... do I bother posting it now?

I always just shoot off from my own blogroll to the sites in my own particular order, and try to get to everyone every day or two. I try to comment on anything that moves me to do so - BUT I don't go off on crazy tangents. I just don't need more blogs to read! So I have, despite my feeling it might seem rude, actually taken blogs I wasn't so into anymore OFF of my blogroll. Because it is my reading guide.

I'm feeling overwhelmed by my lack of commenting. I'm reading people I swear! My messy house is attest to that.

There is just not enough time in the day.

Some days I have time to comment, some days, I barely have time to pee. I'm impressed that you keep a diary of blog topics. I try to keep them in my head, but I, too, suffer from Swiss Cheese Brain and most of my thoughts are scattered across the vast wasteland that used to be my memory.

I'm lucky in that Boo takes two naps a day still, so I can generally get most of my blogs read. Commenting, though, is a whole other kettle of ball games.

And THEN, sometimes, when you have a comment to make, stupid Blogger won't take the thing, making you sit here and hit submit eleventy-eight times and hope to god you aren't leaving duplicate after duplicate after duplicate. *muttermuttermumblegripe*

Ha! I also leave blogs open so I remember to leave a comment when I have more time. Its great to know I'm not the only one. And I often have 7 or 8 browser windows open at once, all blogs and two of my emails. Yeah, I'm a multi-tasker.

Yup. I hear you. I often get pulled away from the computer and come back hours later to realize I've left a blog window open the whole time. I like to wake up over a few blogs in the morning, with my coffee, and I've found that cramming in too many in such a short window of times makes for really stupid and nonsensical comments.

I am blown away at how many people out there are just like me!

Bloglines sounds like it might fit me well, I'm going to look into it. Thanks Bub&Pie.

Maybe I should take my coding skills and build a comment app so I could do one-button commenting (I bet you'd all see through that really quick.. but if I built a random generated spitter-outer (b/c that's what we refer to them in the coding world) of benign comments, I might get away with it longer...hmmmmm... hear that sound? that's the wheels turning squeek sqeeeeeeeek)

Oh yeah -- you catch 'em where you can. I compose them at work and then email to myself to finish at home once Nate's asleep. Then I say up and get no sleep in order to catch up on everybody. Bloglines helps, but it becomes the new White Lines. Addictive because you get more reading done.

I think the pressure to leave comments is silly, but we've all felt it. It's OK to lurk. Besides -- if someone has 50 comments, what am I going to say that no one else did? Pshaw.

oh, god, yes.

AL. WAYS.

bleah.

p.s. that baby is fricking KILLING me with her cute ray. tell her to stop it, already. -- on second thought, no. I'd rather die at the hands of the cute than live with the plain.

Same thing happens to me too, and I list all my faves in tabs as well though I have my own computer. I had everything tabbed out and ready for reading, but with a 5 month old, nothing is static so plans went askew. The following day I got to finally read only a few sites...but still had them up and waiting. I can't imagine what those site owners thought!

Oh, hell yeah. And then I feel guilty for not commenting, so I often use my writing time commenting instead of composing posts. Heh.

That photo of Bump is fabulous!

I am the queen of guilt. Bloglines lets me read and I comment as much as I can but there are days that means none. I think I am actually going to start to lighten up and just comment and read far fewer blogs. This shouldn't be stressful!
