Mean Green Salad Machine

Not the black ones!

That's what everyone just loves to hear screamed out in public.

But she still yells it.

Mind you, she is not quite four years old and she is just talking about lettuce.

But it still shocks me every time I present a transgression on her plate.

The latest offenders were the benign Oak Leaf and the equally gentle Lollo Rossa.

Rejected only because of the colour of their leaves.

My daughter will only eat salad if it is 100% green. Cucumbers, green peppers, green lettuce, celery -- c'est toute.

Only an almost four year old could make salad complicated. Complicated because of the royal pain the ass it becomes when eating out. Picking apart salads has become the norm and I hate it.

Hate it.

Mind you I'm eating more salad these days since all the offending non-greens make it to my plate instead.

But why can't she be this fussy about ice cream?

I'd rather eat her ice cream rejects than salad.

My son has never swallowed a piece of lettuce in his 6 1/2 years. It's murder to get him to take a bite and then he starts the gagging bit.

Mine will only eat iceberg lettuce with no other vegetables anywhere near it. Never mind that she likes carrots, if they are in her salad FORGET IT.

My kids won't eat ANYTHING that is green. You're ten steps ahead of me.

YAY! That she eats salads! WOO HOOO!

Color eaters make life VERY difficult.

I keep telling my kids about rainbow eating.. they challenge me to make their plates into rainbows.

Wow I can't believe she'll eat all that! More than my 7-year-old will eat.

Green food (lettuce) is healthier than black food (oreos). And I wouldn't eat black lettuce either. I side with Gigi on this one.

Neither of my kids will eat ANY salad. We got BubTar to take a bite the other night and threw a small parade.

I have a 12 year old who often asks why I keep tree leaves in the fridge. It's frickin' spinach! I'm pretty sure he doesn't even know the word 'salad'. I think he thinks I'm telling him he's being 'so loud' when I tell him we're having one at dinner, and he looks at me confused because, for a change, he's actually being quiet.

Oliver LOVES salad. He devours it. He's a fan of romaine and iceberg; I've never tried the black ones on him. Heh.

Pineapple has started something new with her food, too...she prefers to feed herself now and when we feed her something, she SPITS IT BACK OUT INTO HER HAND AND THEN EATS IT. Yeah, I know.

I am so not reading your blog anymore. I mean, she WANTS to eat ONLY GREEN?!? The jealousy I have is oozing right now.

My son will sometimes only eat orange. Cheese, yams, cheese-and-yam related products. I'd rather have your problem.
