Based on the experience of that last few days, I have two words for all pet owners out there: Pet Insurance.
Get ye to an insurer and get ye all important coverage so you do not have to sell your kidney to save your furry babies. 'Nuff said.
Okay, not enough said. Ned Flanders once said that he thought insurance was gambling against God but if I learned anything from that particular episode, it was that Ned was wrong and beatniks make lousy parents.
So to counteract my beatnik heritage, here are some informative Canadian Pet Insurance links (I don't endorse any of them but good golly I wish I had looked into it sooner).
- PetCare Insurance Brokers Ltd. (has a Quick Care for Indoor Cats only)
- President's Choice Financial
- Vet Insurance
- PetPlan Insurance

Also, I joined a cool blog roll this week so if you are looking for a ring to join and you are a chick who blogs and doesn't swear too much (yet for some f**king reason they still accepted me), check out Blogging Chicks.

how's dallas doing? still wishing your kitty a speedy, and, uh, cost effective recovery.
as for blogging chicks, do you think cocksmoker, dickwad or asshat count as swearing?
Thanks for the post and welcome to the blogroll.
BTW, excessive is the key word.
I'm glad Dallas is a bit better. We are about to sign our doggie up for insurance, so thanks for the reminder!
I'm glad Dallas is doing better, I hope he recovers completely. You know I have a soft spot for animals. Don't even get me started on pet insurance!!!
I'm glad Dallas is home. And whatever Dallas is lying on that picture is gorgeous. ;)
You're a Simpson fan. Reason 297 why I think you're cool.
I hear ya. In a span of 6 months, we had to deal with one dog having both optic neuritis and a tumour, and the other dog having an epileptic episode that landed us at the 24hr emerg clinic, all without insurance.
I wish Dallas a quick recovery. I know how tough this probably is for you.
How is Dallas? I did not know your little fluffball of love was sick...
we to have spent a fortune on our cat. damn this love stuff.
outta curiosity, is Dallas' illness related to that tainted pet food issue in the news these days?
I hope not - two cats have died already in Toronto and we were feeding the boys Iams (on the list) but we have now switched to Hill's. The antibiotics are working so I'm hopeful that it was just an infection because I'd hate to deal with the other possibilities.
I remember reading that Gavin Rossdale had his dog Winston insurered for a million dollars!
Hope Dallas is back to his normal cat ways. If he's anything like our cat Monty that's sleeping, eating and running away from toddlers.
